Excellent care –
Northern Advocate – 18th February 2012.
Hospital is Tops
Monday, January 30, started early
for us with a quick trip to Whangarei Hospital at
1230am.
The patient was suffering from
chest pains and pains between the shoulder blades, so there was no waiting and
it was straight through to the Accident & Emergency department.
A nurse was quickly on the job
and a number of tests were carried out.
The process of temperature tests, a lure in the arm, blood tests every hour, a number of electrocardiogram examinations, an
ultrasound examination, chest x-rays and the administration of pain relief
continued until approx 5am.
With a senior and deputy
registrar on the case, who were both personally undertaking the ultrasound
examination, you couldn’t have asked for better attention. All the staff were
extremely friendly and early in the piece, the location of the tea room was
described and available throughout the morning.
Being kept well informed of all
the processes being undertaken, it was most reassuring to all concerned. With all the results coming back clear, it was
time for discharge at approximately 5.45am and home for some catch up
sleep. The service received
over those hours was nothing short of excellent.
We are blessed with the staff at
our hospital in Whangarei and this should be taken
personally as a bouquet for their excellence of service provided. It was
appreciated.
