Maintenance - Northern Advocate - 28th January 2010

Muddy water - Whangarei Leader - 1st February 2011

It saddens me to read and be advised of yet another sewage spill into the Whangarei Harbour, Northern Advocate 24th January 2011. May I introduce you to a word found in most dictionaries: maintenance. Don’t blame rain, we have had rain for years.

This could have been prevented if money was spent in the essential areas as promised during election campaigns. But no let’s just pretty up the Town Basin, cover up the problems with a fuzzy image. Maybe build more grandstands on the waters edge, to watch the preverbial brown stuff float downstream polluting our environment. Some depend on our waters to provide food for their families whilst paying rates allowing for the elected to dine out. Our harbour is not a dumping ground.

Mr Mayor, 100 days has passed since election and we still have the stuff in our harbour you promised to fix, but deferred yet again. I am still around watching at meetings and informing through my website. Fortunately I have the time to observe and inform.
